Are You Sick and Tired of Feeling Sick and Tired?
If you are still having symptoms of low thyroid despite taking Levothyroxine/Synthroid (T4 only), this is more common than you think!
Your body must convert the carrier molecule T4 over to T3, because T3 is the biologically active thyroid hormone that our cells use to function.
For a variety of reasons, known and unknown, some of us have more trouble using T4 only treatment than others. So I often see an improved response when switching a patient from a T4 only medication (Levothyroxine/Synthroid) to a Natural Desiccated Thyroid medication such as NP Thyroid or Armour (T4+T3).
Another option is the addition of Cytomel (T3) to your Levothyroxine/Synthroid (T4).
Additionally, dosing should be based on the goal of symptom resolution versus lab results.
